FINFO – a multilingual web portal about Danish society

finfo.dk is developed and maintained by the Danish Library Centre for Integration, including all content on the national pages (FINFO Denmark).

The object of the portal is to facilitate access for linguistic minorities to information about rights, obligations, and opportunities in Danish society.

Currently, FINFO is operating in Danish and eight other languages.

Public libraries, government ministries, municipal governments, and a range of other organizations can supply content to various topical and municipal pages. FINFO is thus comprised of a network of central operators in Danish society, who all wish to facilitate the process of integration between ethnic Danes and minorities through action-oriented, multilingual information about Danish society.

FINFO covers a wide range of topics compiled on the basis of end-user needs and requests for information about Danish society. The topics are evaluated and adapted to reflect developments in user wants and needs. Currently, the topics are: New in Denmark, Work, Education, Organizations, Healthcare, Relationships and Family, Culture, and Society.

The portal has both a national and a municipal level. The national level holds information that falls within the aforementioned topics and is relevant to citizens of Denmark in general. This could, for instance, be information regarding legislation and laws, rights, obligations, and opportunities for ethnic minorities in Denmark. The municipal level holds information of particular relevance to residents of the respective municipalities. This could, for instance, be information regarding events, the job market, organizations, libraries, educational institutions, etc.
