Getting to Aarhus

SAS

SAS has been appointed the official airline carrier for LIBER 2010, which means that eligible participants (i.e. those registered for the Conference and accompanying persons) may obtain a discount on flights to and from the Conference, by quoting Event Code DK1017 when booking flights via SAS Call Centres. Please note that this concession applies only to registered Conference participants and accompanying persons.

Transport

Getting to Aarhus is easy. You can travel by car or by train from any of the North-European countries. Aarhus is close to the E45 motorway.
Aarhus (Tirstrup) Airport is the closest airport to Aarhus, but Billund Airport is also quite near. If you arrive at Copenhagen Airport you can either fly to Aarhus (Tirstrup) Airport, or you can travel by train or hire a car. There are airport buses to Aarhus from both Billund and Aarhus Airport .

From the City Centre to the Conference Venue

Aarhus Airport

Aarhus Airport has between 8 and 12 flights daily to and from Copenhagen Airport, which is Northern Europe's key air traffic hub. The service is primarily operated by SAS and takes 35 minutes. In addition, BA / SUN AIR have flights to and from Stockholm, Oslo and Gothenburg, and Ryanair operates a service to and from London. Aarhus Airport also offers a taxi-plane service.
The Airport is situated less than 40-minute drives north-east of Aarhus, and there is a bus service connecting with each flight. For more information see: Shuttle Bus from Aarhus Airport.

Billund Airport

The airport at Billund is located approximately 80 minutes by car south-west of Aarhus, and there are several daily flights to and from a large number of national and international destinations with worldwide flight connections. There are 5 to 10 daily flights between Copenhagen Airport and Billund.

Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen Airport is Scandinavia's largest airport, operating  65 airlines and handling more than 20 million passengers annually. From the airport you can either fly on to Aarhus Airport or go by train.
There is a direct train to the centre of Aarhus from Copenhagen Airport every half/one hour. The journey takes around 3 to 3.5 hours. Train schedules.

Car

As in other parts of Denmark, Aarhus has an efficient road network which allows easy access by car directly to the city - for example, Hamburg is only a three-hour drive away.

From the City Centre to the Conference Venue

The University of Aarhus is situated within walking distance (15-20 minutes) of the city centre, and is well served by buses. Bus Number 3 (in the direction of Århus Nord), Number 11 (in the direction of: Vejlby Vest), Number 14 (in the direction of: Skejby Sygehus), and Number 17 (in the direction of Skejby Sygehus) will take you directly to the University.
When using the yellow city busses ('Bybus' in Danish), please enter though the rear or middle door, and buy your ticket at the ticket machine. The single adult fare is 18 DKK. You can also buy a 'klippekort' – a card valid for 10 journeys – in most kiosks.
