The libraries in Oppland county as inclusion arenas

Presentation in Norwegian

Gunhild Aalstad is the Manager of Oppland County Library, and Håvard Lund is a consultant there.

Oppland County Library is leading a project called “Libraries as global door openers”, in cooperation with seven municipalities. This project aims to develop libraries as multi-cultural venues and inviting multi-cultural dialogue, to facilitate communication between different language groups and encourage people to learn Norwegian.

The project will raise the awareness of the library staff in which role they can play in a multicultural context, and the communities in Oppland County should realize the importance of libraries as resources in inclusion work.

Oppland County Library wishes to continue the lessons learned from the project in an international project called “The Stranger”, a collaboration between six countries. The project is supported by the National Library of Norway.
